In case you missed the exciting news, New York City officially opened the world’s largest $1.6 billion dollar ultraviolet disinfection plant in Westchester County this month.

The new UV treatment facility, located in the Catskills, will specifically treat for cryptosporidium and giardia microorganisms that can potentially contaminate drinking water consumed by more than 9 million residents in the city and surrounding areas.

Even more exciting, the 270,000-square-foot facility will treat more than 2 billion gallons of water each day, much more than the second-largest UV facility under construction in Los Angeles. Continue reading
